"My attraction to the "Narrative Boxes" began as a response to the overwhelming nature of the city itself. Nairobi, where I have lived and work for more than a decade, it is a place of layered histories, rapid construction and the quiet erasure of what came before. The box became a way to impose a sense of order and intimacy onto that chaos. It’s an intimate scale that invites the viewer to lean in, to peer into a private world. This act of looking closely mirrors the way we must pay attention to the overlooked corners of our cities, the stories of those who are displaced, the traces of old trade routes hidden beneath new highways. The box is a container for memory, a portable archive that allows me to hold a fragment of a city's soul and offer it for quiet contemplation". Muthoni Mwangi
