Founded by Christine Oguna, a fintech innovator turned art advocate, Ardhi Gallery is a Nairobi-based space dedicated to nurturing emerging artists from underserved and refugee communities. Nearly two decades in financial services—including launching M-PESA at Safaricom and leading digital payments at KCB Bank—Christine turned to art for healing and purpose.
Launched in 2023, Ardhi Gallery operates with a community-first, CSR-driven model, taking minimal commissions and reinvesting proceeds into artist support, mentorship, and wellness. Rooted in the Swahili word "ardhi" (meaning “ground”), and symbolized by an oak tree, the gallery is committed to growing deep roots in grassroots art movements—redefining value through creativity, equity, and access.
At Ardhi Gallery, we support emerging artists through practical, community-driven programs:
Mentorship & Development
Guided support from established artists and curators to help emerging talent grow their practice and navigate the art world.
Financial Literacy
Workshops and coaching on pricing, budgeting, and building financially sustainable art careers
Market Access
We showcase artists locally and globally—online, in exhibitions, and through partnerships—while taking minimal commission.
Artist Wellness
We provide mental health resources and wellness activities to support the whole artist, not just their work.
Grassroots Incubator
Targeted support for artists in refugee camps and underserved areas with materials, training, and exposure.
Community Art Projects
Murals, workshops, and collaborations that bring art into public spaces and local stories to life.
