In April 2023, Ardhi Gallery proudly launched its inaugural exhibition in collaboration with Mukuru Collective, marking a vibrant new chapter in Nairobi’s contemporary art scene. This groundbreaking show brought together diverse artists from the Mukuru informal settlements, spotlighting authentic stories and bold expressions that challenge perceptions and celebrate resilience. Through this partnership, Ardhi Gallery created a dynamic platform where community narratives and artistic innovation intersected—bridging gaps, inspiring dialogue, and amplifying voices often unheard. The exhibition was not just an art display but a movement fostering empowerment and creative solidarity.

Esho-funi: Oneness of Life and the Environment was held at Ardhi Gallery in July 2023, offering a deeply reflective and spiritually grounded exhibition that explored the inseparable link between human life and the natural world. Drawing from the Eastern philosophical concept of esho-funi—meaning “the oneness of self and environment”—the exhibition featured powerful visual narratives that portrayed nature not as a backdrop to human life, but as an extension of it.
Artists responded with works that embodied harmony, disruption, renewal, and interdependence, urging viewers to see themselves as part of a greater living ecosystem. Through sculpture, painting, and mixed media, Esho-funi challenged the audience to reconsider how we live, consume, and connect—calling for a renewed sense of responsibility and reverence for the planet.

XX Chromosome: A Celebration of Feminine Power
Art is a mirror, reflecting identity, history, and unseen forces that shape our world. This March, Ardhi Gallery presents "XX Chromosome," an exhibition exploring femininity, resilience, and transformation through the vision of groundbreaking artists.
At its core, the XX chromosome symbolizes creation and complexity. Each piece in this collection—paintings, sculptures, and photographs—tells a story woven from personal histories, ancestral echoes, and revolutionary spirit. These works embrace the ever-evolving nature of womanhood, capturing strength, softness, defiance, and grace.
The artists in "XX Chromosome" challenge perceptions and redefine power, inviting you to look beyond the surface and engage with their narratives. For collectors, this is more than an exhibition—it’s a chance to own a piece of this dialogue, to invest in voices that shape contemporary discourse.
Join us at Ardhi Gallery this March and experience the energy, depth, and dynamism of these transformative works.
