Roots & Reinventions brings together two dynamic collectives emerging from the creative heartbeat of Eastlands, Komarock—communities where stories, textures, and visions intertwine to shape new artistic futures.
We are honoured to present this showcase, a celebration of young artists who dare to transform the familiar into the extraordinary. Through an eclectic mix of mediums—bamboo shavings, newspaper collage, digital art, fine-art prints, recycled cutlery assemblage, and more—these artists breathe new life into everyday materials, revealing unexpected beauty, innovation, and depth.
This exhibition is both a tribute to our roots and an exploration of how reinvention continues to shape the evolving landscape of Kenyan art.
The Unchosen Ones tells the powerful story of escape — from war, from the chaos of the city, and from a life unraveled by conflict. Almogera’s raw, expressive work captures the ache of displacement and the strength it takes to begin again. It’s a tribute to hope, survival, memory, and silent resistance.
In April 2023, Ardhi Gallery proudly launched its inaugural exhibition in collaboration with Mukuru Collective, marking a vibrant new chapter in Nairobi’s contemporary art scene. This groundbreaking show brought together diverse artists from the Mukuru informal settlements, spotlighting authentic stories and bold expressions that challenge perceptions and celebrate resilience. Through this partnership, Ardhi Gallery created a dynamic platform where community narratives and artistic innovation intersected—bridging gaps, inspiring dialogue, and amplifying voices often unheard. The exhibition was not just an art display but a movement fostering empowerment and creative solidarity.

Esho-funi: Oneness of Life and the Environment was held at Ardhi Gallery in July 2023, offering a deeply reflective and spiritually grounded exhibition that explored the inseparable link between human life and the natural world. Drawing from the Eastern philosophical concept of esho-funi—meaning “the oneness of self and environment”—the exhibition featured powerful visual narratives that portrayed nature not as a backdrop to human life, but as an extension of it.
Artists responded with works that embodied harmony, disruption, renewal, and interdependence, urging viewers to see themselves as part of a greater living ecosystem. Through sculpture, painting, and mixed media, Esho-funi challenged the audience to reconsider how we live, consume, and connect—calling for a renewed sense of responsibility and reverence for the planet.

Dust to Form is a powerful exhibition featured in Ardhi Gallery exhibitions that celebrates the raw beauty and expressive potential of charcoal as a medium. Showcasing works by both emerging and established artists, the show delves into themes of identity, labor, and transformation through bold, textured strokes and emotive forms. At its core, Dust to Form serves as a tribute to artist mentorship and the creative process—highlighting how something as elemental as charcoal can be shaped into profound visual storytelling within contemporary art.

XX Chromosome: A Celebration of Feminine Power
Art is a mirror, reflecting identity, history, and unseen forces that shape our world. This March, Ardhi Gallery exhibitions present "XX Chromosome," an exhibition exploring femininity, resilience, and transformation through the vision of groundbreaking artists.
At its core, the XX chromosome symbolizes creation and complexity. Each piece in this collection—paintings, sculptures, and photographs—tells a story woven from personal histories, ancestral echoes, and revolutionary spirit. These works embrace the ever-evolving nature of womanhood, capturing strength, softness, defiance, and grace.
The artists in "XX Chromosome" challenge perceptions and redefine power, inviting you to look beyond the surface and engage with their narratives. For collectors, this is more than an exhibition—it’s a chance to own a piece of this dialogue, to invest in voices that shape contemporary art and discourse. Ardhi Gallery is also proud to support artist mentorship, fostering the next generation of creatives.
Join us at Ardhi Gallery this March and experience the energy, depth, and dynamism of these transformative works.

From February 8th to February 28th, Ardhi Gallery exhibitions will feature "Threads of Unity," a compelling showcase that celebrates the interconnected journey of mentorship, collaboration, and artistic evolution. This exhibition highlights the works of renowned artist Patrick Kinuthia alongside the creations of emerging talents Derrick Munene and Kennedy Kinyua, emphasizing the enduring influence of guidance and shared vision in the contemporary art world.
As a mentor, Kinuthia has profoundly impacted Munene and Kinyua, shaping their creative paths while encouraging their unique voices to emerge. The exhibition juxtaposes Kinuthia's masterful, time-honed artistry with the dynamic and fresh perspectives of his protégés, creating a dialogue that bridges experience and innovation.
Through diverse styles, techniques, and narratives, "Threads of Unity" weaves a story of growth, inspiration, and the transformative power of artistic relationships. This collaboration showcases the beauty of mutual learning and the enduring legacy of artist mentorship in shaping the future of art.

"Two Worlds, One Gallery" is a groundbreaking exhibition at Ardhi Gallery that bridges the timeless essence of traditional art with the cutting-edge innovation of virtual reality. This unique fusion invites viewers to explore the dynamic interplay between classic artistry and immersive technology, offering a re-imagined way to experience contemporary art and emphasizing the importance of artist mentorship in this evolving landscape.

In February 2024, Ardhi Gallery proudly hosted one of its impactful exhibitions, Ubuntu: Humanity and Environment, a thought-provoking showcase that explored the deep interconnection between people and the natural world. Rooted in the African philosophy of Ubuntu—'I am because we are'—this exhibition highlighted the importance of artist mentorship as it brought together a diverse group of artists whose works reflected themes of coexistence, environmental stewardship, and collective responsibility. Through sculpture, painting, installation, and mixed media, the contemporary art featured in the show invited audiences to reflect on the fragile balance between human progress and ecological sustainability. Ubuntu was not just an art exhibition—it was a call to action and a celebration of shared humanity in harmony with the Earth.
